In the heart of one of Brighton’s busiest pedestrianised retail areas, and as part of a £100m regeneration project, we feel privileged to have been part of this legacy project as the new Hannington Lane opens in the City of Brighton. Working closely and collaboratively with Redevo, Morgan Carn Architects, HOP Consulting and Freeman Beesley Engineers we have transformed the former Hannington’s Department store into a unique retail and leisure area creating a new lane and entrance to the historic Lanes shopping area from North Street.
The renovation and extension of existing historic buildings took place which has provided new and exciting retail outlets, restaurants and cafes. This includes the sympathetic repair and restoration of Pugets Cottage, one of the oldest properties in the Old Town which has now been revealed for the first time in 150 years. The project also provides 7 new two storey apartments, with courtyards and associated landscaping in keeping with the character of the existing area.
Due to it’s location, this challenging project had limited access through existing and congested roads.
In order to successfully complete the project we have worked closely with all of our site neighbours, the highways authorities, conservation officers and other statutory bodies.
The completed project truly reflects the hard work and commitment the whole delivery team has had throughout the last two years.
Thank Thomas and Adamson for this great video of the completed project.
